Frequent yeast infections are now becoming very common and are caused by different factors. During their lifetime, each female will experience at least one yeast infection. While some females may experience this infection once or several times in their lives, some females are more likely to cope with it. It is not entirely healthy to get infected with yeast commonly.

A vaginal yeast infection is a fungal infection that causes the vagina and vulva to become irritated, produce discharge, and severe itchy — the tissues at the opening.

Symptoms of yeast infections can range from mild to moderate, and they include:

  • Itching and irritation in the vagina and vulva
  • A feeling of burning, particularly during intercourse or during urination
  • Redness and swelling of the vulva
  • Vaginal pain and soreness
  • Vaginal rash
  • White, thick, odorless vaginal discharge with the appearance of a cottage cheese
  • Watery vaginal discharge

Medical scientists have found that in a hot and humid environment yeasts flourish more. Moist vagina therefore enhances yeast development and other associated bacteria. You understand the vagina is hot already. Make sure that after taking a bath, sweating or going for a swim, you don’t permit humidity to hang around your vaginal region.

Wearing synthetic undies often adds to the development of yeast as they cause wetness and warmth in the region of the vagina. Therefore, underwear produced from fabrics such as cotton is perfect. Cotton fabric enables the penetration of air and can help soak the wetness / humidity around the vagina.

Douching or using soft cleansers are much better. Do not add scented salts whenever you need to relax in a bubble bath.

A bad diet can also cause frequent yeast infections. It is not appropriate to over-consume sugar-rich foods as they contribute to yeast activity. Dwell more on vegetables and fruits. It can be readily restored by taking yogurt after upsetting the equilibrium of good bacteria and yeast, which includes active cultures. It can also assist restore the equilibrium by eating lots of red meat.

It has been discovered recently that contraceptive pills also contribute to frequent yeast infection. High-dose birth control pills are commonly responsible. If you are on one of these pills, then you may want to consider other alternatives like the low-dose varieties.

Underlying health issues can also lead to frequent yeast infections. If you have health issues, the risk of infection with yeast will be greater. If you have a disease like HIV, this danger will be considerably high.  Issues can also arise if you have diabetes that you are not efficiently controlling.  Lyme disease and lupus are two other illnesses that can lead to infections with frequent yeasts. This problem can be readily solved by detecting and treating the underlying health issue.

Other causes of frequent yeast infections includes:

  • Pregnancy
  • Uncontrolled diabetes
  • An impaired immune system
  • Oral contraceptives or hormonal therapy to boost the concentrations of estrogen
